I was surprised at how viscerally I reacted...

Surprised maybe... but glad I did. I'm not a young man. I'm 39.

But I cherish those stories. And Rickman's portrayal was spot on.

and I was a good deal heartbroken yesterday. just imagining that he's not on this planet anymore is a bummer...

So, the preview pic for this thread in tapatalk is a doe patronus with the Always written in the spell's light. Then I click on the thread and the pic is Alan Rickman. Wonder what sort of sorcery tapatalk has going on.

The news about Alan Rickman didn't hit as hard as Robin Williams' passing, but this was indeed a sad day. He was an excellent actor with an amazing voice. I think I'm going to have to re-watch all of the Harry Potter movies soon.

Goddamn it.

Yeah, last week was not a good week for celebrity deaths.

Particularly for talented Brits.

I just wasn't prepared for Rickman's death. I mean, did we even know he was sick?

Not that it should be our business. But who doesn't love that man's work in at least one way?

Be prepared for this fact. I'm sorry... There is currently no way to posthumously grant knighthood. It's simply not done.

Otherwise we'd have some other amazing Brits who should have one. Turing comes to mind, immediately (who, yeah... Who was granted a posthumous pardon. for whatever that garbage is worth...) Oh, and Tolkien. He's not knighted either.

Sorry... True. Alan Rickman deserved it. But it's too late.

Yep. And today I saw that Glenn Frey from The Eagles died as well. While not a Brit, it's just keeping on the same path...

As someone who loved and still loves The Eagles, Frey's death hurt a lot. Not that any of the other recent deaths sucked any less, of course.

At least they got to have that late run and didn't stay broken up forever. Now I'm going to regret never having gone to see them. (Same with Bowie, of course.)

If anyone here's into documentaries and hasn't seen History of the Eagles yet, this would be a good time.

Before I rent it for streaming from Amazon, it's definitely worth 4 hours?

EDIT: Is this one the same? Which are you referring to?

The Netflix one is the right one. Should have two parts.

If you want to cut it in half Part 1 is definitely worth watching.

Pen pals? With David Bowie? Why yes.

I saw the Eagles 10 years ago and I was expecting old has beens creaking half assed through songs they had sung a million times. What I got was a truly magical no lip synch concert that blew my socks off. When they sang Seven Bridges Road the hair on my arms stood up. I wish I had been able to see them again because it was amazing and Glen Frey was a talent solo as well.
