I'm turning 39
This isn't a big deal. I'm cool with it. Love my fiancee. I have all my hair. And, I'm not kidding, maybe 4-5 grays. II'm a very lucky guy. Seriously, it's so thick my barber charges me double.
But here's my issue. I recently discovered I have a nickel allergy.
So the question is this... How in the FUCK does a person go 39 years of their life and not realize they have nickel contact dermititis?
Is this LITERALLY the first belt I've owned with a nickel plated buckle? Over the course of my ENTIRE BELT-WEARING LIFE?
For anyone who cares, this is not a big deal. It just means if something plated with a nickel alloy touches my skin for an extended period of time, my skin get sirritated, dry, cracks, sometimes bleeds. But it has to be for, like... a long period of time. 10-12 hours a day for several days in a row, apparently... But nickel plated things aren't that common.
But come on... I'm 39. Where did this come from?
But... let's be honest... if my only complaint currently is having to special order belts from Amazon? Yeah, I'm doing alright.
But I need to find things to bitch about. Cuz, you know... I'm almost 40.
My kind?
We bitch about things.

I have the same problem with prostitutes.
39, eh? You and me both, buddy. But I think as we meander down life's dappled roads we can take comfort in the knowle...what were we talking about?

Re: I'm turning 39
I think at 40 my warranty expired so I find all kind of fun new games to play like "how to sleep with a screwed up shoulder and knee" or "guess which joint you just heard snap crackle pop" or the ever popular "where the hell did I put X" . Don't you tuck a shirt in if you are wearing a belt? How did that come into contact with your skin for so long. Some allergies build up over time and small exposures until your body reaches the tipping point. I had that issue with a certain laundry detergent I used it for years and then suddenly I got hivey and all my blood vessels were more noticeable (dilation) it looked nasty but after changing to a perfume/dye free version everything went back to fine.

You nailed it! Why is this happening?!
Like, I know if I sleep on my right side, I'll get a tickle in my throat and wake up coughing.
Like... WTF is that, right? Doesnt' happen if I sleep on my left side. Dumb body...

I have a good ear and a bad ear now. I know if Cara's restless or some inconsiderate wank is playing shit music loudly somewhere at night, I can adjust the volume of the world quite considerably by simply swapping which ear is pressed against the pillow. Ain't aging grand?

Re: I'm turning 39
I've been practicing this weird skill lately.
I want everyoen to give it a try.
Focus on making the world silent. I do it at night. We sleep with a fan on. We both need the white noise, Katie and I.
But I've noticed that if I concentrate really hard and sort of, like, balance everything just right, I can silence the fan. Like, I can silence everything. Complete silence for maybe a quarter of a second at a time.
I'm not kidding! It's pretty awesome...
So, I don't want to alarm everyone. But... I may have a superpwoer.
And that superpower? Is deafness...
I'm like some sort of lazy, shitty version of DareDevil.
...Yeah... My abilities enhance otherwise unused disabilities. /me_irl.

I can't sleep on my back or I get a weird tickle in my throat that makes my eyes water and then wake up feeling like I am choking to death. Yes the body is in fact a meat sack that is totally out to get you.Dreamer wrote:You nailed it! Why is this happening?!

This feels...weird.
I'm 31 and still feel like I'm 22 or something.

Re: I'm turning 39
I'm staring down the barrel of 40. I shudder to think what the missus has planned. We setup a rather macabre celebration of her 40th (tombstones, ravens, black flowers, etc). I'm owed revenge. As if my musculoskeletal breakdown wasn't enough.
Happy birthday, Dreamer! Welcome to the last year of your "youth".
