Is the role enabled? You should be able to remove it from Turn Windows Features On or Off. It's there for devs but shouldn't have been enabled by default.

You can try, but it claims several other items are dependent on it, including "TCP Activation" (and MSMQ, which I can't imagine I actually need).

Re: Windows 10
I was thinking of redoing this page as a post here but I can't be bothered.
I'm on Win 7 and will be avoiding Win 10 until atleast a couple of months has gone by and I can get more reviews.

Nice share! It's not all completely accurate, but there's some good stuff in there.

Re: Windows 10
So after going through them all, I realized I was either immune to it, had already had it disabled, or it's actually useful.
Not all of it is bad, btw. The syncing with OneDrive (if you own multiple Windows 10 tablets/laptops/desktops) makes a lot of sense, just like iCloud or whatever the Google version is called.

Google Drive syncs all your language preferences and accessibility settings and the rest?

Re: Windows 10
After using Windows 10 on fresh install since Saturday. Love that I don't need to install a 3rd party program to have a menu system that doesn't suck. Booting up is just as fast as Windows 8.1 was for me on my platter drive. One of the few issues that I have had is that when I signed into Xbox live or the Windows store for the first time it converted my local account to a MS account, only took a few minutes to find the setting to convert it back to a local account only. Further logins to those services didn't convert my account back. Windows' new browser Spartan/Edge/WhateverTheyCallIt runs slightly better than IE runs for me, but not enough to use it over Chrome/FireFox/AnythingElse. Overall after using it I have to say it runs really well and is an improvement over Windows 8.1 and worth it to upgrade.

Re: Windows 10
Going from 7 to 10 has caused me a lot of issues. Even if you turn things off they still use up resources and that it even has advertising for other programs is unacceptable.

Re: Windows 10
For me it was pretty smooth, and it's not using any more resources than Windows 7. In fact it seems like it's using a little less.
You said elsewhere that the Settings app is crashing on you every time you go into it, right? I don't even know how to help you there

A fresh install. I wasn't even aware you could upgrade from 7 to 10 in place.

Re: Windows 10
Welp, my first installation ended up being 213 GB. No idea what happened there. It also took like 6 hours to finish. Anyhow, after I discovered that, I redid it and now it's about 16 GB.
Now to ship that computer to my brother and let him guinea pig it for awhile before I dare to anything to my own precious.

Re: Windows 10
Sounds like you had bad install media or some major hardware issues man. Every machine wee have put 10 on has worked fine aside from taking a few minutes to sort out external display issues.
You might want to run chkdisk or something to make sure your drive is good.
