It also saved a little money. Not much compared to the overall cost, but still.

I’m in isolation thanks to my idiot parents, but I’m pleased for your day off.

My stupid ass didn't realise it was this week until shortly before I posted that. I somehow got the english one at the end of august in my head.
Hope you and your folks are doing okay though. My friend had to isolate recently and it frustrated him to no end.

Ah that'll be why all my bills went out as normal. In saying that, those fucks never take day off.
Yes, everyone is fine. Thank you. Just my mother tested positive and she's recovering well and quickly. Looks like the Lawson millions aren't heading my way anytime soon.
Last day tomorrow, which is just as well. My penis is in shock.

It's likely seen a lot of abuse during isolation...

Re: Son of Rantettes & Ravettes
I got a new monitor!
27" 1440p 144Hz IPS monitor (LG 27GL850)
This is my first 1440p monitor and my first IPS monitor. Did you guys know colours aren't meant to look shit?
I have so much screen space now it's crazy.

Isn’t it great? Now go to 2000px wide…

Re: Son of Rantettes & Ravettes
Hah, now I'm more confused! 2000px wide is a 1080p monitor
Unless you mean 2000 tall for a 4k monitor!
My stepdad is a big photography buff, bought himself a 4k monitor a while back to take his photo editing up a notch. I sat in front of it for, like, 5 minutes and it was weird as hell.
Know when you come out of the opticians with a brand new pair of glasses and you realise how they make your old pair look utterly filthy? It was like that.
Unfortunately I think my computer would develop tear ducts and short itself out if I asked it to play games at 4k.

Re: Son of Rantettes & Ravettes
4k is nice if the screen is large enough. I'm working off a 34" widescreen (3440x1440) and it's almost perfect for splitting 2 apps with no bezel. I think the 38" model with about 20% higher res would be amazing.

No, I'm the one who was confused. I don't know what what I was thinking exactly. I, too, have a 27" IPS 1440p monitor. a Dell UltraSharp U2717D InfinityEdge that I got about 5 years ago and have been enjoying it since.
I threw out the factory color calibration results unique to this serial number, but they were good, and I've been very pleased. The one thing I hate about it is that the Samsung IPS panel it's based on is polarized the wrong way, so that when wearing polarized sunglasses, it's blacked ALL the way out. It's a minor thing, to be fair, as it's not exactly an everyday occurrence, but still

Re: Son of Rantettes & Ravettes
Weird, my LG is exactly the same way while my old (TN) panels are polarised the right way. Thankfully my window doesn't face the sun so I don't have much cause to wear them.
Wish I could say the same for my desk at work though. I can either be the idiot wearing sunglasses indoors or I can do a headache inducing clint eastwood impression.
