Dear Alannah,

Next week is kindergarten enrollment. I'm not sure who gave you permission to be old enough to go to kindergarten, but I think they lied. You can't possibly be almost five.

Nope. Definitely not.

Love,
Momma

Dear Coworker,

I cannot begin to describe how much it pisses me off to spend 2 days writing up a 10 page clothing order to only have you scribble all over and change half of it. Next time do it yourself and for fucks sake don't hand it back to me and say "I changed a few things why don't you rewrite it and then we can go over it again" unless you want me to go murderous on your face.

Sincerely, The same girl who has been doing the order from that vendor for 8 years.

Dear Missouri, Kansas, well just everyone east of the California/Arizona border:

How's that Winter storm treating you? Thundersnow? A foot or more of snow? Dreading that arrival of Jim Cantores to your neighborhood? Sleet? Having to postpone a major golf tournament because of 6" of snow? Stranded out in the middle of the I-435 loop? Yikes. Sucks to be you.

I'm enjoying from the relatively balmy 50ºF (10ºC) but rainy weather. And we've had maybe a dusting of snow all together here. And I'm so sorry if you've heard me giggling and running victory laps.

Yours,

Ampersand, the boy who enjoys the claim from Kansas Citians that "We're not Minnesota prepared!"

Dear Cygwin,

The make command should be installed by default. I mean really, if I'm using cygwin, I will probably want to use make at some point.

Cheers,

Dear Weather,

Yesterday, I was giggling at the snowstorm impacting Kansas & Missouri. Now I learn one of my cousins, a 19 year old renaissance faire snake charmer, died in an accident because of the snowstorm.

That'll teach me to thoroughly enjoy not being in a snowstorm.

Yours,

Ampersand. And yes, she was training to be a veterarian.

Update: turns out the accident was to hide a death by overdose. Apparently, she became addicted to painkillers and she has access to vet meds. I had no idea how large skeleton closets are.

I'm sorry for your loss, amp.

I lost a cousin this month to cancer, and we weren't close, but the aftermath has still been devastating. I send my deepest sympathies and commiseration. :(

Sorry to hear it, sneaky. Close or not, this kind of thing is always incredibly difficult to deal with for all sorts of reasons. Hope you're doing OK.

Thanks, Rors. I'm slowly coming to grips with it. I'm grateful you've managed to overcome cancer yourself :)
