Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2023 filled with love and amazing food

.!!
I just got headhunted for a new job with a significant pay increase. I start in less than two weeks. It is going to be a bit more work but I am excited! Hoping 2023 is going to be a good year!

Congratulations! A happy new year to all!
2023 started with the passing of my father in law. He was a couple weeks from 81 and riddled with cancer, so his passing is sad but a relief for all concerned. Now the real work begins. It may be a wild year.

Happy new year!
Congrats FB! May the new gig be a blessing.
Sorry to hear that Deacon. I hope your family heals and finds peace.
Our 2023 will likely be wild as well. My father in law dropped the news on us Saturday that he went in with a cough and what he thought was a pulled muscle and they found a 4" diameter mass in his lung pressing on his aorta. They haven't done the biopsy yet but the doctor is 90% certain it's cancer.

Oof. Hopefully they can remove it and all will be well. My FIL was dealing with pancreatic cancer that was well advanced into everywhere else.

Congratulations, and sympathies.
What’s the new job, Firebird?
Deacon, I’m dreadfully sorry to hear of your loss. How’s the missus holding up?
raptor. Sorry to hear it. Nothing shittier than having to wait for bad news.

Director of Housekeeping for over 500 homes. It starts at 65K with a potential 50K bonus at the end of the season. I am pretty sure the metrics to get the full bonus are going to be ridiculous. If you reach 50% of the goals its still 25K so that would be sweet. I will be the only non-college graduate to have had it so we will see lol.

Noice. While I'm not sure about the value of the heathen currency you naughty colonials use, I don't
think there's much difference between the pound and the American 'dollar' these days, so that's a hefty chunk of change.
One step closer to shipping me over in a dog crate anyway. <3

Play your cards right and I will even spend the extra money to put holes in the crate

Happy 2023 everyone!
I know I haven't stopped by in a while, but I do think of y'all sometimes.
Just earlier today a memory popped into my head, of my first time traveling by plane (aside from as a baby, which doesn't count because I don't remember), and arriving in or near North Carolina in 2007 for the Duck's Landing meetup.
I have this incomplete memory of someone (maybe Mae?) absolutely losing it at seeing my ridiculous old timey luggage, with my "luggage tags" that were just poorly cut pieces of cardboard with coloured pencil, being held on by several random elastics each, and I don't know if there was anything else I could have done to truly show that I'd never traveled on my own before.
Don't know why that popped into my head, but it did, and I thought I should share it somewhere, and that led me back here.
I hope 2023 treats everyone as well as it can.

I should bug Martin to finally change my name, too. Sir Spankspeople isn't really gender appropriate anymore, and honestly who would even pick such a silly name?
But if I changed it, would anyone even know who I am?
Who even am I, anyways?
Who even are any of us?
What is who?

Lady Spanx, Then you could say you really "pull" people together. That is a lame spanx joke I know an effort was made and I demand credit for my stellar wit!
