That’s ridiculous. They could keep most of that and offer, say, $2M and still have the same event :)

To add another layer of how ridiculous the money is, keep in mind that the prize pool was $11 million just for the first-place winners, there was also money to be handed out to the runners-up and the other teams who places.

And finally, the prize pool was entirely crowd-funded (thanks to in-game sales), with only $1.6 million seeded by Valve itself.

ust played a ranked game as invoker mid. The kunkka going against me was divine five, I am ancient one. Why would I get paired with someone with 5.5k+ MMR when I have 4.2k?

The badges are the highest MMR someone has gotten, not necessarily the current MMR, for all we know he lost enough games to be dropped into a game with you.
