No, are you guys crazy? Why would I spend that kind of money on a super cheap week's vacation somewhere?

Absolutely not. I'm barely able to afford ramen right now.

Heh...I had to look up her name too since she's never on here. Her handle is 'Jadefire'.

Because Jerm's post made a new page, please make sure to look at my last post on the previous page. There are questions I'd like to get answered.

Jerm 50% segment
Jerm Guest 50% segment (What was her name on the board again? I can't remember.)
Tnitnetny 100% segment

Greg 100% week
Liz 100% week
Mav 100% week
Pickel 50% week(?)
rkitect 50% week (?)
BtEO 75% week (?)
Deacon 75% week (?)

Jarrod?
Jarrod's Lady?

Does that seem right?

If Toni and Jerm took opposite segments, then that equates to 1.5 weeks paid for.

Beds:

Jerm & Jerm guest: 1 bed (Maybe Toni could take over this bed.)
Greg and Liz: 1 bed
Pickel & rkitect: 1 bed
Jarrod & Jarrod's Lady: 1 bed

Mav: 1 bed
BtEO: 1 bed
Deacon: 1 bed

So right now we would need at least 7 beds, maybe 8.

This at least gives me something to start shopping around for houses with. Would you guys like to be A) Closer to the beach B) Closer to the Casinos or C) Be equal distance from both but have a nicer house. ??

Also, which dates seem to look better for you? August 25th - September 1st, or September 1st - 8th? Labor Day is the 5th of September, so some of you might be already getting a 3-day weekend for that week anyway. I'm not sure if it increases airfare significantly though. I tried to get Thursday - Thursday so that airfare was cheaper for everyone during that time. However, if you guys think Tuesday to Tuesday might be better or whatnot, we can move things around. We're very flexible at this point and I want to make this work for as many people as possible. :D

Oh, and would you guys like us to open this up to all of Greg's fans? It would make the cost cheaper, but it might be less intimate. It's up to you guys.
September 1-8 would be perfect for me. I could pay for a week and arrive the 2 and leave the 6. Technically I only miss two days from work. August 25-Sept 1 would also work and I would arrive Aug 26 and leave Aug 29. I don't mind paying for a full week for that either since it is right smack in the middle.

I can share a bed, sleep on a couch, take a bunk bed, whatever. I have no problems sleeping as long as grandma goes to bed by a certain time. ;) I also definitely don't mind kids being there.

That's about right. I guess I can't really say I'm 100% till things are 100% :)
Mav: 1 bed
BtEO: 1 bed
Deacon: 1 bed
The implication being they're all the same bed, right? ;)

I have exactly zero idea as to what I'd prefer. I've never been there. I can't imagine spending a lot of time at casinos, though, for what it's worth. What kind of distance are we talking about? If it's 20 minutes from the casino to the beach, then it doesn't really matter. If it's a 3 hour drive, that's pretty significant.
Also, which dates seem to look better for you? August 25th - September 1st, or September 1st - 8th? Labor Day is the 5th of September, so some of you might be already getting a 3-day weekend for that week anyway.
September 1 to 8 sounds fine for me. Bonus being over Labor Day, but that's really a minor consideration for me. Does that affect things as far as population/activities in South Lake Tahoe? Maybe affects housing pricing?

That's really your call. I mean, I had a great time in Vegas, and that involved only a handful of people. I tend to enjoy those kinds of things more. It's less raucous and more chill.

When you say Greg's fans, do you mean the ten of tens of people who listen to the TDM ustream/podcast? And will there be a possibility of a Two Drink Minimum broadcast with an audience during the Gathering?

I meant the comic fans because this is a comic forum. But there will be a 2DM broadcast while we're up there.

That sounds positively delightful. The thing about calling in is that it's not at all the same as being in the same room with someone while talking to them. Can't read their expressions, make eye contact, read body language, even subconsciously, so it can be difficult to tell when to keep quiet, when to interject, you end up talking over each other more easily, you're subject to network/computer/headset limitations, and so on. I think it'd be a blast to be there in person.

Not only that, but we have a fourth mic, so we'd be able to have a number of people on the air. Might even make it a longer broadcast than usual or something. :)

What kind of mics are y'all using? Phantom power OK? I've got a nice pair of Audio-Technica mics I can bring. I forget the model numbers, but they're real mics that you need to run through a mixer, not like a USB condenser mic. One's a suspension mike I use for recording vocals and another one like the SM57 that I use for recording the acoustic guitar. Also have a pop screen.

I also have a 4 (or 8? I need to check) channel mixer with a USB out. Just throwing that out there...

Right now we've got 2 MXL 990's and one POS dynamic mic. We're working on getting a 3rd 990, 'cause them is some AWESOME condenser mics. But yeah, the board has phantom power and XLR inputs, though we only have 4 inputs on the board, so if you have a separate mic preamp you could use, that'd be a good way to get extra mics into the mix. :)

Won't have any extra mic arms, though - we only have the 4.

I have an 8 channel Behringer Xenyx 1204FX with a USB interface, an Audio-Technica AT2020 and AT2021 set of cardiod condensor mics, both of which will work beautifully for podcast type applications, of course, and I have a couple of boom arm mic stands (useful?) and a pop screen. I also have a Mackie Onyx Satellite which can act as a mic preamp as well...

We have a USB Snowball mic that we can bring. Picks up sound in the whole room so we wouldn't need to take turns being on the mic. Plus its a lot smaller than bringing a whole mixing board.

My husband and I are considering this, the main factor for me is the timing. Trying to get away the first week in September is kinda tough. If the gathering were later it would be a no brainer. I'm not sure if we would stay the whole week or 3-4 days. Sounds like fun though :).

I would rather be closer to the beach or equal distance. I don't care much about casinos because I probably won't be in them much if we bring Noah. Which is fine with me....no need to gamble away more money on this trip. :D
Also, which dates seem to look better for you? August 25th - September 1st, or September 1st - 8th?
1st-8th would probably be best for us. Carl's got a limited amount of vacation time to use on this so Labor Day would help with that.

I don't care who comes as long as they are cool people. :D

I think I'd just about favour beach over casinos, I'm not exactly a beach person either though. :P

When I looked at the calendar to see who'd booked off time already those dates both seemed clear enough that I'd be unlikely to have a vacation request refused.

If opening it up to non-forum comic fans will result in it being cheaper then I can definitely see that as a plus.
