2014/08/28 comic

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Lyrical Story section should explain the reference.

It took me a while to figure out the reference, too... Then I suddenly heard "and the silver spoon, Little Boy Blue and the Man on the Moon..."

None of you grew up in the 70s, I see.

Not only did I immediately get the reference, but it resonated so strongly that I immediately stopped working to go play with my kids. I work from home too, and have had the conversation in the first panel too many times to count :-(

Personally I thought it was a code phrase for the weird sex they have, but it didn't really seem appropriate that Harper was the messenger.

I also have to note that while I'm familiar with Cat Stevens, he's pretty far removed from cultural references these days and thus overlooked as the possible reference simply because I wasn't expecting it. But hey, if I lost all of my fingers, I wouldn't have to

Cat Stevens? I would expect the generation that reads this comic would be more familiar with the Ugly Kid Joe cover.
