Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Been reading the comic for years, but I just signed up a forum account because I needed to weigh in on this comic.

I have actually wanted this for years now. During times of strife in my life through recent years - unemployment, lack of food, etc - I've often found it comforting at night to imagine that I'm drifting through space, disconnected from any place where my problems have meaning. And at some point a few years ago, I had the thought that it would be awesome to extract the audio of the Enterprise' background noise to better facilitate this comforting fantasy.

My life is a lot better now. Stable job and what not. But this? I honestly find this immensely soothing.

Right... already found that one.
GREG! Did you REALLY do one with additional sound effects? That would be even more up my alley. It'd be perfect for long coding hours...

I, too, would love to see one with additional sound effects, Greg. Did you actually do one?

Same! Though if there's a version without the Red Alert alarms I think I'd rather have that one. ^^

I had this on last night and then forgot I had it on. I switched it off after an hour.

Life's really quiet without background engine hum.

Back in the 90ies I had an Commodore Amiga (two, actually: an A600 and an A1200) and played Star Trek on it. I had the Bridge sounds on and played for hours.
Later I went to sleep and still heard the beeps and bloops and scanners and sensors and I believed I had the computer still turned on.

But it was just burned into my aural channel...

Yeah, I can't download it either. I thought it was my company firewall, but my tablet 404's on it, too. :'(

You talking about the Mediashare link? I downloaded it successfully. I guess I could maybe make it available...

EDIT: Right-click > Save. Make it quick, because it won't be up forever.

Nope. The link Greg posted on the site earlier today. It's supposed to be the mix Comic Greg talks about (with other noises thrown in), but no joy.

I am pondering making my own mix - just for fun. It's not like the sound effects are hard to find. Heck, I have the doorbelll sound as my phone's notification tone (I realize that's not canonically correct... But I like it.)
