28/3/11: You Are Not Alone

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

I've heard of it. So "nyerrr" to the missus. :D

(Now, if you need me, I'll be hiding behind that very large rock wearing Liz-proof armour.)

I didn't think

Explorers
was a particularly

"They're just kids... like us!"

That's right, I registered an account just to say that I've seen Explorers. God, I'm a dork. Luckily, I'm probably in good company here.

On a related note, my favorite part has to be when the one alien eats the harmonica.

Oh man...I haven't seen that movie in ages. I used to watch it practically every week as a kid.

*searches through VHS collection to find it and watch it again...*

Explorers! I loved Explorers. How could anyone think it's an obscure film?

My girlfriend won't watch it for the same reason she won't watch the Harry Potter movies. She, for some reason, can't stand stories that have kids as protagonists going on adventures.

Hell yes Explorers! Was talking to a friend of mine last week about movies that needed to go on his kids' Mandatory Viewing calendar after watching the Holy Trilogy. I offered my childhood tape of awesome, comprised of Goonies, Explorers, and Flight of the Navigator.

Go go garbage can spacecraft! (with a washing machine front as the door).

Other sci-fi "feel-good" films:

-Batteries Not Included
-Weird Science (It is sci-fi/fantasy)
-Wargames
-E. freaking T.

Seriously? So most of her childhood was spent watching movies that only had "strong" adult characters as protagonists? There were tons of great movies back in the day that had kids as the protagonists (not least among them is Explorers). I mean yes there were those that I still go what the eff...but still (like Spy Kids...not my generation so I don't count it).

P.S. I'm back, I know you all missed me...especially Deacon.

Technically Sky High was the 90s, not the 80s, but it is acceptable.

Heck if you are going to do that though, I counter with Thunderbirds.

You mean you don't remember those two two-post exchanges from August 2009?
Seriously? So most of her childhood was spent watching movies that only had "strong" adult characters as protagonists?
What has her childhood got to do with anything? Dude is talking about her now. I loved kids-as-heroes stuff when I was a child - particularly when the villain was a dastardly adult getting their comeuppance.
Now I'm 34, precocious and bright-eyed youth makes me want to knock the shit out of them with a bat emblazed with the word 'life' and then leave them to recuperate in the clinical and probey hands of Mav.

Whoops, guess it just seems that old. Kurt Russel you know, makes everything seem older.

oooh! Big Trouble in Little China, technically fantasy. *remembers watching at The Ram pub at Gen Con last year
