Default title change
Since we started the forums more than 17 years ago, the default title for everyone has been "Crazy Person" (except for a brief stint with "Ohxon Mignun" as the default). While a well-meaning jest at the time, it's time we move to something that places less stigma on those with mental illnesses. BtEO recently brought this up to me, and having gone through a recent stint of brutal depression, I have my own personal take on this.
I'm opening this up to everyone. I don't have anything in mind at this time. The only requirements are that it contains no profanity and that it does not demean or stigmatize any group.

Re: Default title change
I have worn my crazy person title with pride if that helps.

Myself and a lot of my friends are playing Animal Crossing, and several of us ended up picking "Unhindered Eventuality" as our passport nicknames, so that's one I like.
Edit: Completely independent of each-other too.

Re: Default title change
The only problem with the titles in phpBB is that they don’t change automatically over time, right? A lot of the old timers with many posts would also bear the redshirt tag.

Re: Default title change
Over time, no. Only by post count. Ars Technica has a variant based on post count and account age, but they also have, like, a web developer. We originally avoided ranks by post count because we felt it would be unwelcoming to new users, something that happened (and still happens) on boards where those with massive post counts held undue sway.

Re: Default title change
Mae has that ability. That's up to her.
And I did find that there is an official extension called Auto Groups that can move around users automatically based on post count or account age, but not both. I'd rather do the latter, similar to Ars Technica's rank system, because otherwise it's too easy to game the system.
