To hear the Washington Times tell it, Dick’s Sporting Goods is teetering on the edge of Chapter 7 bankruptcy (liquidation).

Then again, the Washington Times also still things there’s a communist conspiracy out of Moscow, Beijing, and Havana (and maybe now Caracas) with deeply placed agents in the US government just waiting for the order to overthrow everything.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Meh. I'm too broke to buy Nikes or anything from Dick's. I do weep for all those innocent AR-15s that were slaughtered, though. I did offer to adopt one.

People filled their pants with excrement at the prospect that one of those ungrateful rich spoiled blacks would hate America and the flag and the troops and the anthem and apple pie and golden retrievers and mothers everywhere, so to teach them a lesson, they said boycott the NFL. Nike put him in an ad, so those same people lost their minds, scooped the contents of their filled trousers, and begin hurling fistfuls of it at anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby. Once exhausted and with bowels finally empty, they began burning items they already bought and sharing the videos around the web. When asked why not at least donate it to homeless veterans or whatever other sacred cow, they had no real response other than it wouldn’t get them enough views. Ad revenue helps buy tiki torches.

Man, it's almost as if your views are evolving or something. Crazy.

I was going to post in Girl Talk to see if some of those peeps had stopped in, then I remembered it was locked and archived. I hope to see some influx of the fairer sex.

On another fun note we are right in the hurricane track for Florence. A lot of my family is leaving, we however with 3 non-traveling dogs will not be. We have filled and checked the generator, stocked up on provisions and made what storm prep we can. I do not live in a flood zone so unlike many that is not a concern for me. I do however live on a heavily wooded lot and the older part of the home is modular so winds are going to factor strongly. I will most likely lose power/internet late Wednesday early Thursday, so if you don't see me online that is the most likely cause. This not my first hurricane by any means but it does look to be pretty spectacular. I will update when I can, things to do!

Have you considered getting a couple car batteries wired in parallel (greater capacity but still 12V) and an inverter for charging phones and powering internet modem and router, that kind of thing? Just as a non-mechanical and portable backup to the generator?

We have a pretty big generator that powers both AC's and most lights and the fridge so I'm good. I am trying to figure out a way to store up some internet any of you smarties have something for that? hahaha

If the cell towers don't go down you can tether to that as long as you have a data plan.
I'm putting my talents and skills to use for a business so that I receive compensatory funds that I may then choose to spend and invest and save as I see fit. If I choose to blow it all on hookers and Dr. Seuss books, I don't see how that means you owe me a comfortable retirement. - Deacon

Cell tower usually goes as well when the power goes out, but that could certainly be useful.
