10 years of RLF.
Seems that the forums are fast approaching an important anniversary. Yes, I'm fully aware that there were existent RL forums before this incarnation but I'm not counting them. I wasn't around, for one thing.
I think it would be sad to let it go by unrecognised.
How could we celebrate this milestone? I have a few ideas. Anyone else?
* A favourite thread/RLF moment thread.
* The exhorting of fallen members to make a cameo appearance either on or around the date. I have the contact details of one or two people that no longer post here. I'm sure others have also. Dare I say it, perhaps even the Deans could be persuaded to drop by?
And maybe some of them might stick around afterwards.
That's all I have so far this morning. Thoughts and ideas pliss!

Re: 10 years of RLF.
Good call on this. We're just a little under six weeks from that day. I've been pondering what to do, but I've been coming up with either ideas that are far too grand for my skills (like a new theme) or just don't seem realistic (I won't get into those). I really like the idea of getting older members to come back for a bit. I have a few people as Facebook friends; I'm sure I'm not the only one.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Hell I has a discussion with Gowerly and Infin on Facebook the other day, by random chance it was the 3 of us commenting on something I posted.

Speaking of bringing back some older aspects, I found that http://www.wsirc.com/ has a decent web-based client that can connect to MagicStar for those that cant or don't want to download a proper client. I'm almost always in the #reallife channel, though I can't promise I'm actually at the keyboard.

I don't think I've been on IRC for 4 years are so. Does anyone else still pop in?

Yeah I haven't been on IRC in forever either. I forgot it existed!

You didn't have your phone on you? There's an app for that!

I'm not going to let it be killed off that easily. Nor am I going to allow certain kinds of people to derail a new touch of interest from former regulars.

For those who left a few days ago so I could register the channel, I did it about ten minutes later. You can come back now.bagheadinc wrote:I'm in the chat now, let's bring this shit back!

Re: 10 years of RLF.
I just for the first time since 2007 bought an actual proper desktop PC, and dusted off the old hard drive pile. Found one that hadn't made it into the external enclosure rotation with all sorts of crazy 2007 things, like the GTAIV trailer, a Daily Show clip about Ted Stevens' Tube problems, and pictures from the 2007 RLF gathering down in Duck. Lots of memories floating back, of good times.
Which reminds me, I was just a few blocks down from Memorseas of a Lifetime in 2011(family trip with the then-girlfriend, now-missus, rented a house for a week) but never got the chance to stop by and say 'hi'. I assume everyone's still just there whenever I'm in the area.
