Yeah, it's 6.75'. It's possible to go bigger, but not as common and not really necessary. The long beds have a bigger gas tank, though, which is nice.
As for stuff falling off or getting wet, I almost always used a cap on the bed of the truck. It not only keeps things from falling off and keeps them dry, but it also increases your fuel efficiency by streamlining the vehicle, reducing drag.
Actually, Mythbusters did a segment on that and found it not to be true. It helps keep the rain off things and to keep them from being stolen, but it doesn't improve fuel efficiency. Has to do with the vortexes and such as they flow around the truck. Anyway, there's a ton of room in the cab for stowing stuff that you want to keep dry and locked up.

Well, color me incorrect. I still always used a cap though because I never had an extended cab.

So, I guess that just leaves one question: how many gun racks are there in your truck, Deacon? Or rather, how many gun racks will you install in your truck?

Hopefully, at least 4. Back glass, roof rack, seat back slings, and a standing rack between the console and dash.

In all honesty gun racks really aren't all that useful in a crew cab truck. People used to use them in standard cab trucks because it kept the gun from getting scratched up riding behind the seat. With a crew cab truck you either throw it in the back seat or lay the seats down and throw the guns on top.

If I use one, it'll be a seat-back sling.

No. You traded in that gorgeous Jag for a truck? This does not compute. Sir, that was a dumb move. :?

I defended you with the Jeep, but trading in a gorgeous luxury vehicle for a truck that you can't park in your garage is just dumb. Really. DUMB.

Heaven forbid you ever get a Sea-Doo. You'd end up just sitting there, staring at it in the driveway, wondering how the hell you're going to get it to water. But at least you're not a faggot!

Did you never watch that old cartoon with the crime-solving dog?

Well it's like that, 'cept it's a Manatee.

It's a brand of jet-ski. Think the water version of a motorcycle.

Blythe Duff?

We are, I think, at cross-purposes. I know what it is.
