I've seen it done, at a distance, but I've never participated myself. I wonder how well the video game translates the experience.

It's not very close. A lot more rules look up and strategy. There is also the feeling of watching your opponent pick up 10-15 models that you just destroyed in close combat... BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!

I did, fleetingly, for a time. Or tell a lie: I played the watered-down board-game version Space Marines.

I tried to get into the game proper, but some time spent in Games Workshop showed me I did not have the necessary commitment, and that I both bathed too much and was attractive to girls (this was a long time ago).

I was never into Warhammer, but Warmachine however... No, not that either. I did play a few round with friend that did and looked up what faction I would want to play. Never had the funds that would be necessary to start. Damn little things are expensive.

So they were. And almost impossibly fiddly. I remember spending hours trying to paint them with brushes bigger than a hummingbird's eyelash and they came out looking like shit.

Not everyone has the knack for painting, I sure as hell doing. Still enjoy playing the game for you know at least 3 to 4 hours.
