Eurovision

Post by Sir Spankspeople » Tue May 26, 2015 5:36 am

So can we talk about how dull this year was?

I say we reminisce about better days when we had a higher caliber of entertainer, such as: Cezar, Lordi, Pollaponk, those lovely Slavic girls, Jedward, and the rest.

I actually don't remember much of anything from this year's show other than the few acts from previous years that we put on immediately afterwards.

Here's some lovely Irish folk music to start things off:

It's been a thing for, like, almost a hundred years.

Or at least 60.

Georgia were a nice stand out for me. And while we didn't exactly nail the song (deserved more than 5 points though) at least the UK tried something different from the pack too.

It's been really low-key this year for whatever reason. Maybe we've all been too busy with the election. Who knows. Anyway. I didn't watch any of it nor have I heard any of the songs, but can say, unequivocally, that it was much better in the past.

I felt kinda bad for Russia and was a little relieved when the presenters came on and basically said "Please stop booing the poor woman every time she gets points" (without actually saying that) 'cause she looked pretty wrecked. It's not her fault her country is a bully who always sends out the most overwhelmingly sympathetic act they can come up with (Cookie-baking grannies, I'm looking at you).

I'll wait for the Graham Norton highlight reel.
