The Men Who Built America

Post by Deacon » Sun Mar 31, 2013 7:31 am

I was never much of a fan of history class growing up. It was generally dry, meaningless memorization of random dates and irrelevant names or cheesy dramatization. It wasn't until college and a great history professor that helped tell the story such that the names were important and the dates became intrinsically tied to real events.

H2 is apparently History Channel's extra offering, and their series "The Men Who Built America" is a very interesting look at legendary names who were actually human after all, many of which were either visionaries with balls of steel or otherwise driven and relentless enough to drive innovation and stumble across advances of science, economics, and production. It's worth a watch if you happen across it.
The follies which a man regrets the most in his life are those which he didn't commit when he had the opportunity. - Helen Rowland, A Guide to Men, 1922
