2983 - Adciv, it won't be gone. The Earth will be radioactive and lost, along with the first set of colonies, by the Galactic Empire, but it won't be gone. And I'm completely ignoring the Fascist and Communist tendencies of the Foundation series. (I mean, really, you can "plan" the future - that doesn't sound fascist. And in the last book, the "collective consciousness" has to take over, to protect us from the aliens - that may or may not exist.)
