Re: CSS and mobile-friendly design

Thanks for your insightful response. I'm understanding more of your perspective, and although I don't agree with the blame on CSS specifically, I kind of get where you're coming from a little more. Sometimes the future is better, but it helps when we remain critical and even sceptical about the shin...

Re: CSS and mobile-friendly design

To each their own, but I've found success using Discourse for about 3 years now for a game I run that used to run punBB, which was far simpler in design even than phpBB but also very outdated and less usable than what Discourse provides. Discourse is less like that car picture you posted and more li...

Re: CSS and mobile-friendly design

Or Discourse , for that matter. I think most of the gripes described here can be attributed to poor implementation, as raptor9k mentions. CSS was just a natural evolution away from HTML being bastardized to manipulate document presentation. Something like truncated content to adapt to screen space l...

Re: 1-28-19: Orville V. Trek

I guess it's not clear then what you mean by "most of the stuff we get these days". If The Nutty Professor remake from 23 years ago counts, then sure.

I would be curious to see data behind this though. To your point, the percentage or even frequency has got to be changing one way or another.

Re: 1-28-19: Orville V. Trek

Even mass and blatant IP reuse though isn't new or specific to us. See The Nutty Professor from 96/63, Ocean's 11 from 01/60, etc. Scarface from 36 years ago was reusing IP from 51 years before itself. :? I don't think it's a "these days" thing so much as the internet has made it easier to spot and ...

Re: 1-28-19: Orville V. Trek

Also, our generation is apparently doomed to endlessly repeat the past concerning all things entertainment. That's hardly new to our generation. If anything, our generation is repeating the repetition of other generations. All entertainment is cyclical, and everything's a rehash of something ...

Re: Well then

We'll see. My fear is that the more radical Democrats are going to fuck this this opportunity up and just mirror Trump's insanity. We're already seeing this with Rashida Tlaib, who I find myself constantly rolling my eyes at. Trump is a certified idiot, but Tlaib is proving to reflect his sensationa...

Re: Happy New Year

Sounds like a mix of good, bad, and unknown. Bleh.

Still, I can see the positivity shining through in some of the silvering lining you're describing. It actually seems like some great news is in there mixed amongst the shitty stuff. Keep pushing through!

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I should try the DLC, I haven't played since I finished it. There's a funny/sad story btw, I played through the first 20% or so of the game not realizing that I could get those towers to open up new areas of the map. The gf and I were in constant awe with how vast the game world seemed. It was so ad...

If you don't mind the plug, I run a old web game called Imperial Conflict. It's definitely not a button masher lol. We've been around for about 18 years and are always happy to welcome new players. :)

Welcome back Nitz!

I'm doing ok myself, also returning from a years-long absence. I don't really remember too many people tbh, although amlthrawn's avatar is instantly familiar.

Anyway, how have you been?

Re: Comic Buffer

It's sad that people would get upset about someone missing an update they do for fun and give away for free. Misplaced frustration perhaps, but I wouldn't say it's sad. If anything, it shows how invested fans can be. That fans would care enough to be upset at all is something that creators shouldn'...
