Re: CSS and mobile-friendly design

Wow, nice interesting thread to read through, thanks all for laying out some good thoughts. I definitely empathize with the overall point. Modern web design is pretty disgusting and inefficient and generally user-hostile. I've been doing web dev since tables were the only option, and to be frank it ...

Re: Making the move to NYC!

6) Don't underestimate the old men playing chess in Washington Square park, some of them are actual grandmasters. Not quite- they're mostly solid, a good estimate is 1800-2000. But they have a lot of tricks up their sleeve: broken clocks that favor them, bishops that swap colors, and teleporting kn...

Re: Making the move to NYC!

Lived in NYC (Brooklyn) since 2001 for the most part. Storage in NYC is fine, but expensive. Probably cheaper to store where you are and move it when you're ready. Here's how to be a pro at NYC living. * Don't live in Manhattan. It's super expensive and shitty. * There is so much FREE touristy stuff...

Re: Randomness

My wife took my laundry up to the laundry room and never started it. I figured it was getting done, how kind of her! Nope... it was just sitting there.

Software/coding. Currently I'm an engineering manager with fancy title "director of engineering" but it's basically mid-level management.

Re: Beard oil

That image rotation looks like sorcery, but apparently it's from a buggy/non-standard Orientation implementation:

Re: When you don't give up.

The domain name for RLC is expiring this April. Would renewing the domain count as a new comic?

I don't have a beard anymore. manliness--

When I had one, it was pretty straight and easy. Never felt like I needed to oil it.

Re: Latest movies mega-thread

I was in a semi-comatose state in front of the TV a few nights ago watching HBO. "Gods of Egypt" came on. And I was in such a tired state I decided I would watch the first few minutes, yknow, for a laugh. How bad could it be? But within like 5 minutes... IS THAT JAIME FUCKING LANNISTER? (I turned it...

Re: The second amendment

Yeah, I understand how easy it is to print or just manufacture the parts you need. But let's say you have a population of 100 people that want to commit mass murder. Some of them will have the access or technical capability to 3d print or otherwise manufacture the parts. Some won't, they won't know ...

Re: The second amendment

There's a wall on the side facing Las Vegas Blvd. I don't know if a semi could get through and honestly I don't really want to think about it. The comparison that keeps popping into mind is the 2nd battle of Fallujah, which was some of the fiercest fighting in the Iraq War. Over the first week, we l...
