Re: The Guns and Weapons Thread

Yeah, dry fire practice can help a lot with that and building muscle memory. In this case I knew a round wasn't chambered because I always ride in on an empty chamber anytime my son is with me. When the bolt slammed home the hog and a couple deer decided to make an exit post haste.

Re: The Guns and Weapons Thread

This particular rifle sees more bench time than hunting, but I don't really have many rifles that aren't already 8 or 10 lbs with glass. My main deer rifle the last couple of years has been a Ruger M77 Hawkeye Magnum Hunter in 300 win mag. Putting that stock on the savage would bump the total weight...

Re: The Guns and Weapons Thread

I really like the looks of it, and I plan on trying to find one locally to get some hands on time, but then I found this yesterday. https://mdttac.com/us_en/xrs-chassis-system.html It's a fully adjustable conventional stock wrapped around a full chassis. It's $200 over the stock magpul setup but you...

Re: The Guns and Weapons Thread

Hey Deacon, did you every end up with the Magpul Hunter stock on that Remington 700? Did you like it? I have a Savage Hog Hunter in a Hogue pillar bedded overmold that shots great but the stock would never survive the inlet for AICS bottom metal. Magpul announced they were making the Hunter stock wi...

Re: 2020-21 US Political Possibilities

Obama's vice president. Like any politician, I'm sure he's done plenty of shit that most would consider morally reprehensible. He at least hides it well, unlike the current Catastrophe in Chief. The left isn't rallying around him in the required fashion needed to oust Trump. It's a total shit show. ...

Re: The Guns and Weapons Thread

Anything Benelli makes is generally high quality but the pump/semi switch feature is really only useful if you're running less than lethal loads or something finicky. Pump is king for reliability but modern autos are pretty solid. My Franchi Affinity has no trouble with everything from super light s...

Re: Coronavirus

Yeah, bringing active patients into an environment full of people that fit the worst case scenario profile is pretty atrocious. If you need the space carry the equipment to a local gymnasium or something and isolate it. The stimulus check is a one time payment at $1200 per person/$2400 per couple + ...

Re: The Guns and Weapons Thread

300 or under Mossberg Maverick 88. Mossberg 590/500 or a Remington 870 are hard to beat. Mine is an 870 3.5" with a 23" turkey barrel and rifle sights. Those options would be in the $450-600 range if you go for the factory extended tube hd models. If I were shopping right now for a dedicated hd shot...

Re: Coronavirus

Yeah I'm not looking forward to it ramping up down here. Our governor is handling it better than the cheeto, but people aren't taking it seriously; they're doing what they've always done. I'm not too worried about myself or immediate family but I'll be surprised if we don't lose several in my extend...

Re: Coronavirus

I work from home so not much has changed. Local schools are closed through the end of March but a week of that was already scheduled for spring break. Not sure how effective current measures will be for the US. All of the morons that continued/extended their spring break beach trips due to cheap hot...
